German Forger, The Muppets, and a Vacation

Three new promotions this week, and you will need to be quick. Melting is on offer again after its popularity last week, but only 10 pieces are on sale at the reduced price. You'll need to be even quicker if you want to grab a museum quality stretched canvas print of either one of my latest landscapes, Good Morning, or my new abstract, Mardi Gras Lady. Only five each of the latter are available at these special prices until the promotion ends in a few days.

My promotional offers will cease for a while after the next three I promote, when the current run has expired. New promotions will be available towards the end of the month, but as yet they're undecided. The month end promotions will then be for five days, after that the promotions will then be around every six to eight weeks for a maximum of five days until the new year, but they are less likely to be my new pieces.

Also, I need to give you fair warning, I am taking a couple of weeks off in August from connecting online! I will be taking a cruise down the West coast of Africa, and visiting both Spain and Portugal on the return. My online ability will be a little hit and probably more miss, unless the ships Wi-Fi is better than it was on my last cruise around the Baltic. That's not to say I won't be working whilst on board, I will be taking some sea days to sit by the pool with a glass or two of lemonade (I don't drink, we don't agree), and my balcony time will be spent creating some art, so expect some maritime inspired works when I get back. It's a fair way off at the moment, and although I do have a couple of volunteers who can upload my posts, I'm taking them both with me!

On shore days, I will be researching some of the fascinating places I will be visiting, and keeping a photo log of everywhere I visit. That should then give you an idea of the kind of work I will be doing on my return, more landscapes, although I want to get a feel for each destinations colours and vibe and create some abstracts that reflect my visits. Sounds like a holiday, but the reality is I will be working very hard. Well, maybe for some of the time!

So here are this weeks five day promotions:

This weeks BeechHouse Media activity has been interesting to say the least. I've been asked to produce a book cover, create three artwork props for use in a film, and another for a TV pilot to be filmed next year. Of course, I need to fit this in alongside my day job, so it's going to be a busy few months ahead.

In other news, a German forger who conned the art world out of millions of dollars is holding his first exhibition since becoming a free man. Wolfgang Beltracchi forged paintings by some of the world's most famous artists including Picasso and Max Ernst and now his paintings are worth millions in their own right. Reminds me of the Mark Landis story I wrote about a few weeks back.

It's time to play the music, It's time to light the lights. The green lights, that is. ABC has announced the return of The Muppet Show on TV, and this is wonderful news. I loved the Muppets when I was young, although I wasn't all that impressed by the two recent films I must say. TV is the Muppets home.

A pilot reboot for the much-loved, cross-generational show has been greenlit after ABC executives in the U.S. reportedly gave the pilot presentation a standing ovation. The original Muppet Show aired from 1976 to 1981. It was revived in 1996 with ABC's Muppets Tonight, which aired 10 episodes.

The franchise has seen a resurgence in popularity from the two most recent films, the new version will be a more adult take on The Muppets. Shot in a documentary format exploring The Muppets relationships, Miss Piggy, Kermit, I guess, and it might shed some light on the two guys who sat in the royal box.

So, an interesting news week, some great projects to do, and boy am I looking forward to that holiday working vacation. What's everyone else doing this Summer? Going anywhere nice?
